Description

Zeocin™ Reagent is a member of the bleomycin antibiotic family. Resistanceis conferred by the Sh ble gene which encodes a 13,665 dalton protein. In cellsexpressing the protein, Zeocin™ is prevented frombinding and cleaving the cellular DNA. Zeocin™ iseffective on most aerobic cells and can be used for selection in mammalian andinsect cell lines, yeast, and bacteria. The amount of Zeocin™required for selection will vary between 50-2000 ug/ml (typically300 ug/ml) depending on the cell type.
